Love Thoughts:
The Act of Seeing Closely
Simone Weil speaks of love through attention, acceptance, compassion, sacrifice, and self-denial. Spinoza describes the essence of love as “a joy accompanied by the idea of an external cause.” Ortega y Gasset, Alexandra Kollontai, Marx, Hegel… countless philosophers, though they may seem distant, have all tried to give meaning to a concept as ordinary and universal as love.
This series of zines aims to bring this complex yet simple theme closer to the reader. Thanks to the reflections of Sara Tolón, grounded in philosophical thought, the intention is not to teach a subject or define the meaning of love, but to open a dialogue with the reader, one that might lead them to their own answers.
This first volume explores the idea of attentive gaze within relationships.
